Steve Kempster on Leadership for what?

Solvable New Works is a series of perspective-shifting conversations free and open to all. On June 17th, we’ll be joined by the esteemed professor, researcher, and writer Steve Kempster to discuss his recently published anthology, Good Dividends: Responsible Leadership of Business Purpose. He asks the provocative question, “leadership for what?” suggesting a stakeholder-based model of six “good dividends” focused on the purposes, responsibilities, and activities of leaders. Kempster investigates how purpose-led leadership can build the regenerative businesses needed as a response to the climate emergency.

Steve Kempster is Professor of Leadership Learning and Development at Lancaster University Management School and is an Associate Partner of the Regenerative Alliance. He has published broadly on leadership learning, leadership of purpose and responsible leadership with five books, many articles, and chapters. Steve leads the Good Dividends project – formed from an interdisciplinary group of academics drawn from five universities in Europe and Australasia—with the objective of enabling businesses to develop their business models towards realising ‘good dividends’ and becoming regenerative. Steve is Director of the Lancaster University Made Smarter and Evolve Digital programmes linking digitalisation with regenerative —funded by the UK Government as part of the Industrial Strategy for digitalization, productivity and low carbon futures.
