Andrew Hoffman on Sustainability Leadership

Solvable New Works is a series of perspective-shifting conversations free and open to all. On April 8th we'll be joined by esteemed professor, researcher, and writer Andrew Hoffman to discuss his recently published book, Management as a Calling. Hoffman challenges business leaders to think critically about their careers as a calling to serve society with purpose and values. In his review of the book, former Unilever CEO Paul Polman says, "It's by treating business as a calling in service to society that you will not only create a more successful business but a purposeful life as well." With the tremendous powers to influence society and how it operates, Hoffman believes it is time we recognize and call forth the responsibility of business leaders.

Andrew J. Hoffman is the Holcim (US) Professor of Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan; with joint appointments at the Ross School of Business and the School for Environment & Sustainability. Hoffman uses organizational, cultural, network and strategic analyses to assess the implications of environmental issues for business. He has published 18 books and over 100 articles/book chapters.
